...i found the following words in a message at:
http://www.inside.com/jcs/BoardsGroupDisplay?group_id=6086&type=books&podId=8&category_type_id=1000
"..."GINGER" is a modernized permutation of a fifty year old army design
for a one man stand-up ducted-fan firing platform. The concept has
been updated with a fly-by-wire control system which makes it child's
play to operate. Furthermore, Ginger also utilizes gps navigation which
facilitates a 'type in the destination and press go' mode of failsafe operation.
the Army's original design was cheap to produce, hands-free stable and
economical to operate. Dean Kamen has morphed the concept into a viable
transportation alternative for today..."
i said earlier that a gyro-stabilized hi-tek scooter is still just a scooter,
but , if i add a lift-fan and turn it into a gyro-stabilized flying-scooter as
the above paragraph suggests, (remember that Kamen pilots his own helicopters)
then i can see how IT could change the architecture of cities and civilizations
by eliminating the need for streets and roads and by eliminating radar
speed-traps and eliminating the protection that fences provide, especially
at borders...nothing i can think of could possibly more "world changing"
that millions and billions of flight-bikes and nothing could face more
resistance and restrictions from governments and big busynesses...
...just think...domesteading on a vista-full mountaintop with
multi-fuel (incl woodburning) Stirling powerplant, no roads,
pure rain-water catchment, hydroponic-gardened fruits & veggies,
and hi-speed wireless communications for a reasonable cost...ahhhhh
