Well, the inventor is known for mechanical engineering solutions,
like a stair climbing wheelchair...that implies that it's something
mechanical in nature, and ingenious. Most of his inventions also
involve motive power...transportation springs to mind.

Let me get this straight -- a simple press release stating "We have
something we feel is revolutionary...a stair climbing wheelchair"
or some such thing, would generate more hype than people's
imaginations running wild?
Doubtful.
There was a movie years ago (Doris Day) which used this marketing
technique to promote Zim...I think that was the name. They came
up with a colored "wafer" which, when eaten, turned into alcohol in
the bloodstream -- the 10 cent drunk. OK, so it's not P.C. today, but
it was a cute movie.
Anyway...My guess is that the "buzz" would have died down in, at
most, a week if that type of announcement had been made. "Hints"
and "teases" seem to be keeping it going right now.
If this "leak" was intentional, it's an act of marketing genius. If
Bucky had used this method of promotion, we'd all be living in
dwelling machines, right now, and driving around in Omnidirectional
Plummeting Machines. Instead we live in Ranch homes, and travel
in the bastardized grandchildren of the Model A.
Genius...absolute genius.
