Polymer building materials

Hi group,
There seem to be growing number of building materials referred to as
"polymers". Generally they are polyethylene, polypropylene, and other
plastics, sometimes pure, sometimes recycled, sometimes mixed with
wood fiber. A lot is sold as decking, tongue and groove, some in
panels or sheets, hollow tubes, solid, etc. Even the more common DIY
building centers are selling it.

Has anyone worked with any of this stuff for dome frames and or outer
shell? It's more expensive than vinyl, but probably doesn't carry the
percieved environmental baggage. I see the structural strength specs
vary all over the board, as some is much stiffer than others.
